Service Description

The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank tells the true story of the Frank Family as they hid from Nazis behind the secret annex in Amsterdam for two years. We'll read her diary and learn about the daily life of these seven individuals, as well take a virtual field trip through their home. Much like Anne Frank went into hiding, The Book Thief by Markus Zusak is also about a Jew who goes into hiding. Liesel, however, is able to hide in plain sight. She pretends to be a family's relative who has to come live with them when her family is killed. This allows her to live the somewhat normal life of a little girl, but she must always hide that she is really Jewish and how she really feels about the Nazi party and those around her. What makes this book truly unique though, is you would think that Liesel would be the narrator of the story. She is not. Death is the narrator of this story. And he pulls no punches.
